An air parade the Hungarian Air Force was set to stage over the River Danube on the August 20 national holiday has been cancelled due to forecasts of poor weather conditions, the head of the operative group overseeing the safety aspects of the celebrations said on Friday.
Zoltán Kovács, the state secretary for international communications and relations, said in a statement that decisions on the programmes scheduled for Friday afternoon and evening will be made in light of the forecasts available at 4pm.
The operative board will make a decision on the August 20 fireworks display scheduled for 9pm after its meeting at noon on Saturday, he said.
The air show over the Danube was scheduled for 9 am tomorrow. Though it was cancelled, the operative board said the swearing-in ceremony of new officers in Kossuth Square would be held at 8 am, hvg.hu reported.
Other August 20 events will also be held as planned. We wrote about the programmes HERE.
The next session of the operative board will be at 7 am on Saturday.
